Non-Profit Collaboration

We understand the non-profit world because we have a long history of…

Being a former employee of the nonprofit world
Being a long-term board member of several non-profits
AND
Being a collaborative consultant with a variety of non-profits.

Leading and working in a non-profit organization is, and for the foreseeable future, always will be a challenge to thrive combined with a commitment of passion for the cause. Our experience tells us that there are three key factors when measuring the successful Development of a non-profit organization. They are:
  • Fiscal well-being
  • Communicating and telling its story
  • Meeting its mission
The Woodland Group and RRO Consulting in partnership provide nonprofit institutions with strategic planning and constructive consultation services to help meet development goals and address development challenges. We believe that the health, wealth and future of any institution depends not just on its fund raising mechanisms but also having relentless focus on all of the complexities that come with communicating its mission, internally and to its donors, volunteers, service providers and service recipients.

Below is an overview of the services offered to help your organization realize its mission and go beyond surviving to thriving.

  • A Feasibility & Campaign Planning Study: Helps an institution develop its purpose and plan crucial to determining the potential level of funding for a campaign, prospective leadership and potential donors, the timing of the campaign and the scope.
  • Development Assessment: Helps to determine “Current State” of the organization through a rigorous data gathering process via interviews, surveys, focus groups and other assessment techniques. Cumulatively, this data provides critical feedback for establishing a solid, data-driven development plan.
  • Campaign Director: There is immense focus and energy needed when an organization runs a campaign. A Campaign Director manages the work needed to conduct a campaign, develop campaign materials, manage a database of gifts, organize cultivation events and develop solicitation strategies for major donors. It is valuable for organizations to be able to hire someone, on a short-term basis (3-months to 3-years) to fill this position and also offer unique insight as a non-staff member.
  • Interim Campaign Assessment: Similar to a Feasibility & Campaign Planning Study, an Interim Campaign Assessment could be completed during an active campaign to assess and obtain feedback on development and communication efforts, and assess the condition of campaign donor stewardship, recommend ways to finalize the campaign and to ensure a steady annual fund income stream beyond the campaign.
  • Interim Staff Position: There are times when an organization is changing direction, facing budgetary constraints, restructuring their development staff, or simply has a vacant position that will take time to fill with a qualified candidate. Whether it be your Development Director, a Major Gifts Officer, or Communications Coordinator, we would be able to keep productivity high, maintain the pace and be able to step in at a moment’s notice to ensure that an organization’s fund raising goals and development needs are met.
  • Marketing & Communications: How an organization describes and tells its story both internally and externally is extremely important and vital to how donors, volunteers, service providers and service recipients respond to its mission. We will partner with you to produce and write marketing and communications pieces that fit within your organization’s style and relate to goals within your Development Plan.

"It is important that we plan for the future, imperative that we accept an outcome unplanned."
